Let’s take a closer look at highlights from the week in sports, showcasing efforts from Novato to Mill Valley, and everywhere in between.

Baseball Brilliance in Marin

This past week saw impressive performances on the baseball diamond, particularly in Novato, where San Marin High (4-2, 4-1 MCAL) stunned Redwood.

San Marin’s Tanner O’Keefe pitched a one-hitter in a nail-biting 2-1 victory, following Sean McGrath’s impressive outing earlier in the week during a 2-0 victory.

The Mustangs capitalized on Redwood’s inability to break through offensively, with Trevor Krejdovsky’s RBI double in the sixth securing Friday’s win. Despite solid efforts from Redwood (2-3-1, 2-2), San Marin’s pitching proved unyielding.

Mill Valley’s Tam High Turns Up the Heat

In Mill Valley, Tamalpais High, better known as Tam, continued their baseball success with a 9-5 victory over San Rafael.

Eli Solem blasted two home runs to carry the Red-tailed Hawks, with Tito Fierstein adding three key hits to seal the victory. These performances reaffirmed Tam’s place among the best in Marin County baseball.

Swimming Success Across the County

Mill Valley wasn’t just shining on the baseball diamond—the Tam Red-tailed Hawks made waves in the pool as well.

Tam swimming dominated dual meets against Marin Catholic in Kentfield and Branson in Ross.

Top athletes like Paul Falzone, Ari Blacher, Addison Everage, and Sabine Barringer showcased incredible individual performances, each securing multiple event victories.

What’s Next for Marin Swimming?

With powerhouse teams like Tam and Marin Catholic vying for supremacy, the road ahead is exciting.

Local swim communities in Corte Madera and Larkspur will no doubt keep a close eye on further performances as Marin’s schools gear up for the next rounds of competition.

Girls Lacrosse: Branson’s Unstoppable Force

The girls lacrosse team from Branson School in Ross is proving unbeatable.

Their undefeated start to the season, punctuated by a 20-7 victory over Justin-Siena, was powered by Audrey Spaly’s incredible seven-goal performance. The Bulls have quickly become the team to beat this season as they dominate their way through MCAL competition.

Dominican University Dominates Lacrosse

Meanwhile, collegiate lacrosse in San Rafael brought excitement as well.

Dominican University’s men’s team earned their first win of the season with a commanding 23-13 performance over Adams State.

On the women’s side, the Penguins improved to an impressive 6-0 after a 21-3 blowout against Saginaw Valley.

Dominican’s lacrosse programs are growing stronger with each game, solidifying San Rafael as a hub for high-level play.

Track Stars Shine in Marin

Track and field athletes were setting records all over the county.

In Ross, Branson sophomore Shiloh Williams took gold in both the 100m (11.61) and 200m (24.25) races, setting personal bests in both events.

Terra Linda senior Milena Taschian also notched personal records in the same events, proving the competition is fierce.

In team standings, Terra Linda edged out Branson in the girls meet, 36-32, while Archie Williams (formerly known as Drake) triumphed in the boys meet with 60 points.

Marin’s Legacy in Track and Field

With top athletes hailing from schools such as Terra Linda, Archie Williams in San Anselmo, and Branson, Marin County is cementing a legacy of strong performances on the track.

The athletes from these schools are sure to be names to watch as they build toward postseason meets.

Volleyball Excitement Inspires Marin Fans

Volleyball matches across Marin featured thrilling action this week.

San Rafael’s Archie Williams High shined in a victory over Terra Linda, led by Zach Wulff’s jaw-dropping 31 kills.

However, Redwood stood out as a volleyball powerhouse, remaining undefeated in league play with dominant straight-set wins over San Rafael and San Marin.

Close Calls for Novato and Terra Linda

Novato High outlasted San Marin in a thrilling five-set match, demonstrating the Hornets’ resilience on the court.

Meanwhile, Terra Linda swept Marin Catholic in three straight sets, further adding to an exciting week for volleyball fans from Novato to Larkspur.

From the baseball fields of Novato to the volleyball courts of San Rafael, Marin County schools showcased true athletic excellence this week.

As the season unfolds, expect players and teams to continue thrilling fans not only in competition but also as vital members of their communities.
